Before you fly

Install the eSIM now. It turns itself on when you land.

Four steps, about a minute, done on your sofa over home Wi-Fi. Installing only loads the profile onto the phone. You leave the line switched off and turn it on when you want the plan to run.

The install

Four steps, and none of them at the airport

Open the email we just sent

It carries your QR code, your ICCID and this same guide. Keep it, it is your receipt.

Add the eSIM, on Wi-Fi, before you fly

Settings, Mobile Service, Add eSIM, then scan the QR code. iPhone and Android both do this in under a minute. Label the line Singapore so you can find it later.

Leave the line switched off

Loading the profile onto the phone is not the same as switching it on. Leave this line off until the day you want the plan to run.

Land, and it turns itself on

Switch off flight mode. The eSIM finds a Singapore network and activates itself. Your days are counted as calendar days in Singapore, and a part day counts as a whole one, so switch the line on in the morning of the first day you need it.

It activates itself on arrival

You do not tap anything at Suvarnabhumi. Switch off flight mode and the ESIM registers on a Bangkok network. One thing worth knowing before you pick a length: the days on a package are calendar days in Bangkok, not 24 hour blocks, so a line switched on at 11pm has used up that whole day. Switch it on in the morning of the first day you need it.

Arrivals at Suvarnabhumi
If something looks wrong

Nine times in ten it is a setting, not the eSIM

No signal after landing

Check the Bangkok line is switched on, that data roaming is on for that line, and that it is set as the mobile data line. Those three toggles are almost always the whole problem.

The QR code will not scan

Enter the details by hand instead. The email carries the activation code and the ICCID, and every phone has a manual entry option under Add eSIM.

Still nothing

Open live chat in the app with your order ID, the ICCID from My eSIMs, your phone model and a screenshot. A replacement is free, for the whole trip, not only on day one.

Two things worth knowing

Keep your own number, and keep an eye on hotspot

Your usual SIM stays in

A travel eSIM is data only and runs as a second line, so calls and your bank OTP codes still arrive on your normal number. Do not delete anything.

Hotspot is set per plan

Most plans allow tethering, but not all. If you are going to work off a laptop between side events, check the package details before you buy.
